Have you ever tried to get a better Google Page Speed score?
You've probably already hit this multiple times - you've already implemented all the page speed improvements using available plugins or with the help of your web developers, but hasn't been able to get even a slight improvement, because of those damned 3rd party scripts, which you can't get rid of...
Sounds familiar?Because this is what all the site owners struggle with, they want higher page speed, but they also need those 3rd party tools, like AddThis, Drift, Wistia etc, etc.
There is a solution, at least for AddThis widgetsDepending on conditions and amount of 3rd party scripts it can get you
10-20 extra points to your page speed score, hopefully, bringing your site page speed from the red to the orange zone.
Is the plugin somehow tricking Google crawlers?
No.
Your visitors will actually experience better page load speed, including those using Firefox, Safari, IE11 and Edge.
How it works then?
What our plugin does, it delays loading AddThis widget until visitor actually reaches the block, that contains AddThis widget on the page. It works exactly the same way lazy loading images work.
For the pages that do not contain any AddThis widgets, the code will not be loaded at all, giving visitors expected performance boost.
The plugin requires
zero configuration as long as you are using default code provided by AddThis or are using their Wordpress plugin.
The optimization will work for visitors using all the major browsers - Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE11 and Edge. All the incompatible browsers will work as well, but in an old way - they will render AddThis widget on page load.
There are some known limitations:
- If your widget is located in initially visible parts of the page (eg above article) - you won't see any improvements on those pages, but will see on other pages, where the widget is located below the fold, or not present at all
- Improvement in Page Speed score depends not only AddThis widgets, but also on other 3rd-party scripts, so the optimization results might vary
So here is the deal
The plugin is in a beta stage, we haven't tested it on a wide range of sites integrated with AddThis.
We plan to sell it at
$99, but we also need to test it on a wide range of Wordpress setups before releasing a premium product.
You can get a free beta-version of the plugin by filling in the form below. You will also get the final version of the plugin once it is ready for prime time for free for one installation. In exchange, we ask you for your name, email so we can send you the plugin, discuss with you issues you discover. We need your website address so we test your site performance with plugin enabled / disabled.
Sounds fair?
